Yours truly, functioning in my role as co-facilitator of the very first Dazzle Breakfast Hangout held in the UK yesterday 29th November 2014

Yesterday I had the privilege of being one of the facilitators at a very beautiful event organized by the Inspired Women of Worth Network (iWOW), in the UK. It was the launch edition of our Dazzle Breakfast Series- a series targeted at inspiring and empowering women and connecting them with tools both internal and external to ensure that we reach and fulfill our highest potential.

It was an amazing hangout with loads and loads of lessons, and it got me reflecting on one of the major themes of the iWOW Network and the Dazzle hangouts in particular. It is the concept of Walking on Water! We say we are women of worth, walking on water- doing the impossible, pushing the boundaries, going where they say we cannot go, refusing to internalize the “no’s”. And so this morning, my first thought as I woke up was, what does walking on water mean to me? If I truly apply the lessons learnt (because only applied knowledge is power), what will it look like to me? So I wrote this poem, explaining it to myself, then I thought, why not share it with you as well? So we all get better! Be our best selves and treat impossible as a dare! Let’s do that shall we?
I CHOOSE TO WALK ON WATER!
Walking on water
Means making every tomorrow
Better than my last yesterday
Walking on water
Means taking all my failures
And translating them into feedback
Walking on water means
Winning against the odds, against the run of play
Walking on water is being my best me
Running my race, even if it is a marathon
Without comparing myself to the lady on a 100 metre dash
Walking on water
Means taking every triumph
And making it into a stepping stone
Absolutely refusing to rest on my oars
Walking on water means I shatter the glass ceiling
Set my sights high and let go of every “but”
Walking on water allows me celebrate you
Knowing that seeing your beauty does not take away mine
Walking on water
Means I hold your hands when you stumble
And I can tell you when I need mine held
Walking on water is a choice I’ve made
To be the very best me I can be,
And then some!
Lovely interpretation of the walk on water theme Hajara. You write so beautifully
Thank you so much Udo! It was an absolute pleasure to meet you this weekend! I can’t wait to hear your inspiring stories in the 2 areas we talked about… Stay awesome.
