16 Days to 40! And today I am grateful for the gift of beauty! Beauty for my eyes to see, beauty for my heart to feel! The beauty of you, yes you, the person reading this!
2 of my favourite quotes on beauty are; one by Helen Keller where she says “the best and most beautiful things in the world cannot be seen or even touched- they must be felt with the heart!” Doesn’t that makes you smile? It’s in the intangible feelings of love, of kindness, of friendship, of gratitude and camaraderie… Felt with the heart…
Another saying I really like is by Ralph Waldo Emerson where he says “Never lose an opportunity of seeing anything beautiful, for beauty is God’s handwriting”… I love that! The beautiful sunsets that make us stop and stare (these last few weeks in Lagos, the sun sets as a beautiful orange orb with so many colours around it! Catches my breath every time!), it’s in the beautiful sunsets, it’s in how the moon seems to still hang in the sky early in the mornings too (anyone notice that too recently in Lagos?). It’s in the beautiful stillness of lakes, the constant movement of the seas, the flow of the rivers, the sounds of the birds chirping, the short wagging tail of my Rottweiler when I get home! Beauty, seen and felt!!!!
I am thankful for the beauty of the people around me! I really am surrounded by kindness, humans that aside from their exteriors are such great quality people!!!
I am also thankful for beautiful exquisite craftsmanship!!! I (now) have a few luxury leather goods (there was a time when I wouldn’t spend money on “such” things!)… but I now see why they command the value they do! I am grateful for people who put in the detailed and conscientious work to create items we enjoy!
16 days to 40! And I am grateful for the gift of beauty and how much of it I am privileged to see!
