Home Is Where Our Story Begins!

Totally in love with this candle…
It says “Home is where our story begins!”
How true! When we choose to make a life with someone we are choosing to merge our idea of home- of their formative stories with our formative stories & wiring…
And except we are deliberate and intentional… we just repeat the pattern’s we are familiar with…
Because what’s normal to you, stops being something you see…
Before you know it, you are in new territory but creating old familiar patterns- even the patterns you hated!
So that at the end of the day- it’s actually not generational curses or even generational blessings… it’s generational patterns… you have been nurtured into a way of “be-ing”…
I always say “look at the data” and remember these 3 thoughts:

  1. A problem cannot be solved at the same level of thinking with which it was created,
  2. The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results; and
  3. Anywhere you show up, there you are!

That you only live once means you owe it to yourself to examine the stories you were told, the stories you believe and the ones you perpetuate… examine how holding onto that story is serving you, if at all…
Then go on to design & live the life you actually want to use your lifetime living!

LOL! Deep thoughts inspired by the Candle and the gorgeous rain this evening. When I first lit this Candle and saw those words beautifully illuminated a lovely hymn came to mind, it’s called “God give us Christian homes” I share it below. 👇🏽

Shalom people! Let’s do our best to create homes that our children don’t have to recover from!

God Give Us Christian Homes by Baylis Benjamin McKinney (1886-1952)

God give us Christian homes!

Homes where the Bible is loved and taught,

Homes where the Master’s will is sought,

Homes crowned with beauty Your love has wrought;

God give us Christian homes!

Homes where the father is true and strong,

Homes that are free from the blight of wrong,

Homes that are joyous with love and song;

God give us Christian homes!

Homes where the mother, in caring quest,

Strives to show others Your way is best,

Homes where the Lord is an honoured guest;

God give us Christian homes!

Homes where the children are led to know

Christ in His beauty who loves them so,

Homes where the altar fires burn and glow;

God give us Christian homes!

Love the hymn… regardless of what your example was, know that God’s design is for home to be a safe place, a place of nurture, and love and expression… so that from home, we could all be launched out into the world! Accurate, purposeful & impactful!

Know that His design is not flawed… we have just humanised it and in so doing, we flaw it completely but for His grace!
